Web Summit 2019 in Lisbon

70,000 participants are expected to join the most important IT event of the year

Lisbon is becoming more and more a tourism destination and a meeting point of new business.
Next week Lisbon will host Web Summit, "the best technology conference on the planet" according to Forbes. This event is a mix of innovation, business and tourism and by far the most important event hosted in Lisbon.

This year over 70,000 people will come to Lisbon for Web Summit: among them CEOs of big hi-tech companies, founders of fast-growing start-ups, policymakers, heads of state, and 2,000 journalists from well known publications including Bloomberg, Financial Times, Forbes, CNN, CNBC, and the Wall Street Journal. All of them trying to answer to the big questions about the future of IT and its impact on people.

The city of Lisbon is particularly welcoming and has an excellent organization. Furthermore, for the success of the event, the most important local service providers have already been mobilized for months and special services have been organized.

For example RIKXA, a start-up operating in the tourism sector, has already taken steps to create the "Shuttle Web Summit" for door-to-door transportation to and from the airport: all obviously based on online booking.

Rikxa is a slice of a global solution to complement the public transport with a unique platform where major players in the industry get together to create a smarter, cheaper, faster, and comfortable solution.

This service started in Lisbon only two months ago, but is already spreading to Faro and Porto. It shows that even old-economy services with new technologies can find a wide range of business opportunities.
